Korean Armistice Signing
Tribute
All are
invited to commemorate the signing of the Armistice ending the
hostilities on the Korean Peninsula in 1953. The ceremony will be held
on Freedom HIll at the post home at 300 Macedon Center Road in
Fairport. The ceremony will include a brief address by the commander
and commemorating the sacrifice of those from Fairport/Perinton who
made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
The ceremony
will be held Tuesday, July 27th at 7 PM.

Post Support for
our Troops
- The post is
sponsoring 'care packages' to help our troops in Iraq
and Afghanistan. Bob Gill who has relatives in these
areas, will be chairmen
and
try to determine
most welcome needs from us. If you
know of a veteran that we should be sending
a package to, please call the post and leave a message for the Past
Commander Bob Gill
NASCAR
Special Events - The
post will
have weekly NASCAR pools and
special
NASCAR parties during the season. Call the post
for more details
about
the party
schedules.

Sign In at the lounge for daily
door prize. All
members have been pre-assigned a
random number.
When you visit the lounge, sign in and give the bartender a quarter for
the pot and
be eligible to win the pot. At closing time (you do not have to
be there to
win) a number
is pulled and if number pulled belongs to anyone who signed in that
day, they win the
pot. If no one wins, the pot grows. Daily winners are posted at
the bar.
Volunteer
Opportunities -
Volunteers are
needed at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua.
At the Post contact Joel Smith
or contact Robin Johnson,
Volunteer Service Program
Manager at the
Canandaigua Hospital.
Many opportunities including drivers and other
necessary
activities.
Also, remember to leave your
donated pop or beer cans at the post .The money
from
the
cans goes to support the vets at Canandaigua

Post
Picnic Our annual Post picnic will be held on Sunday
August 1, from noon ‘
til dusk at the post pavilion. Hots, hamburgers, sausage
and beverages will be provided.
Please
bring a dish to pass if you wish. Bring
your kids and grandkids; there will be
fun and games for all.
Canandaigua
VA Hospital Pizza and Picnic Thursday September
2nd from 5 pm to 7 pm which
replaces their evening meal.
The picnic will be at the Pavilion at Building 7
Joel
Smith has taken responsibility for the liaison with the VA Medical
Center in Canandaigua.
He is having
pizza parties at the hospital every month and needs volunteers for
these parties.
From all reports this is a very useful and satisfying activity.
The
big pizza picnic on September 2nd will need volunteers – please see
Joel Smith and sign up to help.

Our
2nd annual Golf Outing is Saturday September 25TH.
Start to plan now. Get your foursomes together and plan to have a
great day of Golf, and Steak
Dinner back at
the Post along with lots of prizes and give-a-ways. Our outing
last year was a
great success and this year should be even better. We are
planning to help the VA Hospital
with the proceeds from the outing this year so plan to have a lot of fun
for

Annual
Pig Roast – Saturday October 16
We are planning our annual pig roast for
Saturday October 16 at the Post. Our theme this year is
“PIGGIN’ N PICKIN’”.
The meal will be roast pork, salt potatoes, corn and cornbread all
served up
country style. We will serve from 4 PM ‘til????.
Post Anniversary Dinner – Saturday November 6
The annual Post Anniversary Dinner will be held Saturday, November 6th
at the post. Cocktail
s begin at 6:00 PM with dinner at 7:00 PM.
This event is open to existing post and Auxiliary members and spouses
or significant other.
Please save the date and join us. As in the past, this is a catered
event.

VFW 8495 Horseshoe Club
The new Post Horseshoe Pitching Club starts on Mondays 5/24/10
and ends 8/30/10
(No pitching on 5/31/10 Memorial Day)
Rules
Practice starts at 5:30 pm games start at 6:00 pm
Cost is $3 a week . $2 goes to 1st and 2nd place winners. $1 goes for
end of year party and/or prizes.
Men shoot from 40 feet & cannot go over the 37 feet foul line until
the horseshoe is released.
Men over 70 and women can shoot from 30 feet and can not go over the 27
feet foul line until the horseshoe is released.
Horseshoes are to be thrown one at a time by a player and then the
other player throws.
Points will be given to the first, second and third place teams to
determine the winner at the end of the season
Partners are drawn each night.

Saturday July 3rd - Independence Day
Parade
The parades will start off at the Fairport Baptist Home at 10am
sharp. Anyone that has either
a uniform or service cap will be
more than welcome to march with us. As usual, we will have
vehicles available for those who are unable to march and would like to
participate in the
parade. Meet at the post at 9am and we will
leave for the parade promptly at 9:30am. As in
the past, all
members are invited to a social hour after the parades at the Post Home
with food
and refreshments provided.
